Understanding East Asian communities in Brisbane South
Canvas3 is working with Brisbane South Primary Health Network (BSPHN) to better appreciate and understand the health needs of East Asian communities.
BSPHN services one of the most culturally and linguistically diverse regions in Australia, with almost 30% of Queensland’s overseas-born population living in the region and at least 8% identifying as speaking an Asian language at home.
The aim of the project is to develop deeper understanding and closer connection with diverse East Asian communities. BSPHN also wants to recognise and understand the social and health effects of COVID-19.
Members of the community, along with GPs, community groups, member organisations and other important stakeholders are being invited to add their voice to the conversation, to help identify:
- Which areas of the health service are working effectively
- The barriers experienced by community members who access services
- Opportunities for improvement
- Opportunities to build stronger relationships
Following the study, Canvas3 will develop a guiding framework to ensure better health outcomes are achieved.
